Second People's Health Assembly: South Australian Delegates tell their Stories:<br>

PHM Oz, in collaboration with the La Trobe Institute for Human Security and the Public Health Association of Australia, organised a [[Trade_and_Health_in_the_Pacific|public forum on trade and health in the Pacific]]. The forum was held in Melbourne on the 12th-13th April 2010. 1500 delegates from 80 countries met in Cuenca, Ecuador in July 2005 to share testimonies & analysis of global health issues. The meeting will report back on PHA2 and will include dicussion of the future of PHM in South Australia.

Dr Salam Ismael is a doctor from Iraq who came to the second People's Health Assembly in Ecuador. Dr Salam made a huge impression on those present. Some PHM activists were involved in helping bring Dr Salam to speak in Australia. Professor Fran Baum, WHO Commissioner on the Social Determinants of Health and  PHM activist from South Australia coauthored an article in the Public Health Association of Australia's newsletter about one of Dr Salam's presentations. PHM Oz, in collaboration with the La Trobe Institute for Human Security and the Public Health Association of Australia, organised a public forum on trade and health in the Pacific. Following the release of the Global Health Watch in Cuenca Ecuador during the second People's Health Assembly, Professors Fran Baum and Gavin Mooney launched the alternative world health report in Perth on Monday 26 September. Read more

Berkeley, Bangalore and Manila; 28 April 05: The newly appointed chief of UNICEF has come under heavy criticism from health activists worldwide. PHM is launching a "UNICEF WATCH" to monitor the new director's 'anti-children' activities and thus defend UNICEF and the rights of children. Read more

July 18-23, 2005 Cuenca - Ecuador

The Second Peoples Health Assembly was held in July 2005 in Cuenca, Ecuador. It was an amazing experience for all involved, see the PHA 2005 Website for all the news and stay tuned for Australian news and perspectives.
