PHM Victoria kicked off into existence with a great evening of presentations and discussion on Thursday, 24 March 2005. David Legge introduced the group to the history and aims of PHM globally then Sally Kingsland gave a short talk on 'brain drain' issues and how they relate to Australia. Deb Gleeson introduced the Community Health Links Project and was followed by Jon Ehsani who talked about his recent experiences with PHM India. We finished up with some time discussing the possible directions and actions of PHM in Australia and in Victoria in particular. Many thanks to all who attended - on the night before the Easter break!

Brain Drain and Third World Health

The term 'brain drain' refers to the net migration of skilled professionals from one place to another. Our Working Group aims to contribute to the Australian and international debate on the brain drain of skilled health professionals and the creation of global equity in health.

Please see the Brain Drain main page for more information and contact Sally if you would like to get involved.
