Dr Deborah Gleeson
Deborah is an academic at La Trobe University in Melbourne where she teaches public health, health systems and health policy. Her research interests include health policy making in government and the intersection between trade and health policy. Since 2008, Deborah has been the convenor of the Political Economy of Health Special Interest Group of the Public Health Association of Australia (PHAA). In this role she leads PHAA's advocacy in relation to the public health issues associated with the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement. She has several publications on the public health issues associated with the TPP, has attended three negotiating rounds, and has briefed negotiators and politicians on the public health risks. Deborah is also an active member of the People’s Health Movement (PHM) and represents Australia in the global governance structure of PHM.
