Welcome to the PHM Circle on Trade and Health

The People's Health Movement was established in 2000 following the first People's Health Assembly in Bangladesh. The PHM Circle on Trade and Health was proposed at the second People's Health Assembly held in July 2005 in Cuenca, Ecuador.

Statement of Purpose

Recognising the impacts of trade on health the PHM Circle on Trade and Health aims to:

  • demystify the links between trade and health;
  • contribute to intersectoral collaboration with others who share our goals;
  • further international solidarity around trade and health issues;
  • mobilise health workers and the general population

through:

  • facilitation of informal exchange between academic, technical and popular sources;
  • preparation of tools and resources for popular education;
  • leading and supporting campaigns against the impacts of unjust trade and health.

This website

At this stage, this website is intended primarily for PHM activists and our collaborators who have an interest in trade and health issues. It will allow us to share resources, communicate and prepare synthesis papers on our campaigns.
