Bellagio Conference on International Nurse Migration July 5-10, 2005
Nine case studies examining existing stocks of nurses and inflow/outflow from developed and developing countries were commissioned. Researchers performed a stakeholder analysis of the interests and viewpoints of multiple sectors within their countries in relation to this issue. The nine teams met in July 2005, together with representatives from major international agencies, to deliberate three questions:

  1. What are the continuing information gaps that need to be addressed in order to inform policy?
  2. What domestic policies that address the flow of nurses in both rich and poor countries are politically feasible?
  3. What is the potential for international agreements on the recruitment of nurses?
